Seoul-based artist Rikyung's exhibition "Countertransition: Rikyung" will be held at Ginza Maison Hermès Forum from October 31st. Rikyung, who has consistently focused on the theme of light since his early works, will be showcasing two installations this time. "The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil," created in 2001, uses the forbidden fruit as a metaphor, obliterating the darkness and shadows behind it in a room filled with intense light. His new work, "The Serpent's Kiss," focuses on expressing the invisibility itself, aiming to "portray sunlight" based on the natural light's unique transitions in the Forum space. Born in Jeonju, South Korea in 1969, Rikyung has held solo exhibitions primarily in Seoul and participated in group exhibitions around the world, including in Germany, the UK, and Japan. Using light as an element that redefines the relationship between the visible and the invisible, he challenges our absolute trust in our sense of sight and questions the limits and imperfections of what is visible.
