The Maison Hermès Forum in Tokyo's Ginza district will host the "Condansation" exhibition, showcasing the creative process and results of the Hermès Foundation's "Artists in Residence" program, from March 20th.
This exhibition, which was held at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris last summer, will be held for the first time outside of France, with a completely new venue. It will feature works by 16 artists who participated between 2010 and 2013, along with four internationally acclaimed artists: Richard Deacon, Susanna Fritscher, Guiseppe Penone, and Emmanuel Saulnier. Crystal works by Kohira Atsunobu and textile works by Gabriel Chiari will also be featured. Curated by Gaël Charbaud.
Begun in the summer of 2010, the Artist in Residence project allows young artists to stay in Hermès' crystal, silver, silk, and other workshops across France, learning artisanal techniques and creating works. Four young artists are selected each year. A second course is scheduled to begin over a new four-year period.
