To celebrate Mame Kurogouchi's 10th anniversary, the brand's first solo museum exhibition, "10 Mame Kurogouchi," will open at the Shinano Art Museum in Nagano Prefecture from June 19th.

"10 Mame Kurogouchi" visualizes the complex layered elements behind Mame Kurogouchi designer Maiko Kurogouchi's autobiographical creations, showcasing her 10-year creative journey. Several keywords common to all of the brand's collections are visualized from multiple angles using the designer's own diary, inspirational objects and photographs, text, original textiles, and collection archives, creating a space that touches upon the very core of the brand's philosophy.
In addition, a collection of works will be published in conjunction with the exhibition. The contents will mainly consist of text and photographs, and the book will be designed as a "readable exhibition" where the contents of the exhibition and the collection of works complement each other.
With Nagano, Kurogouchi's own most primordial roots, as your guide, you will be able to quietly and carefully experience the source of the brand's never-before-seen creations as it celebrates its 10th anniversary.
In addition, the main building of the Nagano Prefectural Museum of Art (formerly Shinano Art Museum), where the exhibition will be held, will be reopening after renovations on April 10th. Kurogouchi also designed the uniforms for the staff of both the Nagano Prefectural Museum of Art Main Building and the Higashiyama Kaii Museum, which will be renovated at this time, and the design has also been unveiled.

The newly created uniforms were inspired by the location of the museum itself, such as the majestic nature surrounding the building and the deep blue painted by Higashiyama Kaii, who loved this area. In addition to the dress featuring the brand's signature sharp curved cut, the collection also features a double-breasted jacket with a hidden placket and no collar, designed to overlap beautifully with the collar of the dress, intended for wearing together as a set.

Not only is it beautiful to look at, it also beautifully frames the body, is light and comfortable to wear, and incorporates the functionality required of a uniform. The scarf adorning the neck of the jacket features a dark blue embroidery of the gentian, the prefectural flower of Nagano Prefecture, adding a touch of elegance to receptions and other glamorous occasions at the museum.
