The starting point for Akris' Spring/Summer 2015 collection was the exhibition of Russian abstract painter Kazimir Malevich, held at London's Tate Modern this summer. "I was deeply inspired by his minimalist, architectural style, as well as his creativity, which resulted in innovative methods of expression. I was deeply moved by his courage in proposing a new value system for beauty, suggesting that art is not just beautiful," said Creative Director Albert Kriemler. The models appearing through a large square window reminiscent of Malevich's masterpieces wore outfits that mixed sporty elements, as symbolized by the sun visors. The collection offers a realistic wardrobe tailored to the lifestyle of modern women, ranging from tailored pieces to relaxed sundresses, short skirts, and evening dresses. The pieces are crafted using the supple, taut properties of materials such as double-faced cotton, linen, organza, and leather. The embroidered lace trench coat, made with glitter thread, features a pattern inspired by Malevich's paintings. "It can be worn over a T-shirt and jeans, or over an evening dress as an evening gown. It's sporty yet chic, and I think that's modern elegance," says Kriemler. The leather trench coat is reversible, while the cotton dress features a feminine silhouette and delicate embroidery, making it suitable for wearing as an evening dress. From the choice of materials to the detailed design, the collection clearly aims to create clothing that modern, successful women can wear with ease and elegance. The bag featured is from Horsehair's "Ai" series. The collection proposed a style of carrying two bags: a medium-sized bag in the same color and a pochette-style bag that can also be used as a clutch.
