Maki Nomiya's rare costumes and personal items will be on display and for sale at Pass the Baton to celebrate the release of her new album.

Oct 10, 2014

On November 12th, the original Shibuya-kei queen, Nomiya Maki, will release "Live Recording! Nomiya Maki Sings Shibuya-kei. --Miss Maki Nomiya sings "Shibuya-kei Standards"--," featuring covers of classic Shibuya-kei songs by Pizzicato Five, Cornelius, Original Love, and Ozawa Kenji, as well as the roots of the genre. To commemorate the release, PASS THE BATON (Omotesando Hills West Building, B2F, 4-12-10 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) in Omotesando, Tokyo, will be holding a special limited-time collaboration in its small museum space, "LITTLE PAVILION," from October 23rd to November 24th. In addition to the permanent exhibits, the store will also be showcasing and selling iconic costumes from Nomiya Maki's past works and her personal collection. Approximately 600 items will be on display. Among the items on offer are premium items like the Andy Warhol paper dress (¥800,000) worn as a stage costume at the band's final concert in 2001, and a "flower plate wedding dress" (¥100,000) that can be assembled using the included pliers. A special live concert and talk event will also be held in the store on November 15th. Additionally, the store will be reprising its acclaimed Billboard Live performance from a year ago (Maki Nomiya sings Shibuya-kei - 2014 - Miss Maki Nomiya sings "Shibuya-kei Standards" 2014). Responding to requests from her enthusiastic fans, Maki Nomiya will further evolve her "Shibuya-kei Standardization Project" live performance from last year, performing a selection of Shibuya-kei numbers with even more elegance. The planned songs include Pizzicato Five hits as well as classic Shibuya-kei hits from her albums. The events will be held on November 1st at Billboard Osaka and November 7th at Billboard Tokyo. Tickets are on sale now.
