
Luc Besson's film "Lucy" will be released on August 29th. The Japanese 90-second trailer and poster visual have been released.
The heroine of Besson's latest work, director of films such as "Leon," "Nikita," and "The Fifth Element," is Scarlett Johansson, who has appeared in "Lost in Translation" and "The Avengers." She plays the protagonist, Lucy, who becomes embroiled in a black market mafia deal and accidentally leaks a substance implanted in her body, bringing her brain close to full awakening and granting her superhuman abilities. The poster visual shows an awakened Johansson gazing powerfully.
The trailer begins with Johansson in a gunfight and continues on to show her awakened state, demonstrating her astonishing abilities.
The neuroscientist who watches over Lucy is played by Morgan Freeman, who won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in "Million Dollar Baby." Distributed by Toho Towa, the film will be released nationwide at Toho Cinemas Nihonbashi and other theaters.
