Swarovski founder Daniel Swarovski was born on October 24, 1862, in the village of Georgenthal, Czech Republic. He passed away on January 23, 1956.
Born into a family of Bohemian glass cutters, he trained under his father. In 1992, at the age of 30, Swarovski developed a high-precision gem-cutting machine, which had the potential to improve work speed by 10,000 times compared to traditional manual methods. To protect this secret and establish a hydroelectric factory, Swarovski decided to move to the Tyrol region of Austria, where he founded Swarovski in 1995.
The glass pieces provided by Swarovski would have a major impact on the fashion industry. In the 1930s, brands began using sew-on crystals, and in 1956, in collaboration with Christian Dior, they developed the aurora-like "Crystal AB."
