Textile Marche held for the first time in a department store at Umeda Hankyu. Tassel and braiding workshops also held.

Mar 14, 2013

The "Textile Marche," a local fabric sales event, will be held at Hankyu Department Store Umeda Main Branch from March 20th to 26th.

A major feature of this event is that materials shipped directly from domestic textile producers, which are usually sold in units of 1 bolt (50m), will be sold in cut lengths starting from 1m. Exhibitors will also be holding workshops, such as a tassel class by Art Fiber End, a specialty store for embroidery, weaving, and knitting materials, and a hands-on class on tying snake-shaped braids by Showen Kumihimo.

The Textile Marche was first held in Tokyo in February 2010 with the aim of "providing a venue for fabric-producing companies to sell directly." It has since been held three times, in Tokyo in 2011 and in Kyoto from 2012 to 2013, but this will be the first time it has been held in a department store.
