"CHANEL NEXUS HALL presents NAOKI MOOD-9 GIRLS," an exhibition by NAOKI, a photographer active in the fields of fashion and commercial photography, will be held at Nijo Castle in Kyoto from April 24 to May 12. It is an official participating event of the first KYOTOGRAPHIE International Photography Festival, which will be held from April 13 to May 6.
"MOOD-9 GIRLS" is a series of works that NAOKI worked on over a year for an exhibition held at the CHANEL NEXUS HALL on the 4th floor of the CHANEL Ginza Building in 2012. Featuring nine models, the series expresses the theme of his personal project, "The Image of Japanese Girls in the 21st Century," along with Japan's unique cultural background.
In addition to this work, this photo exhibition will feature new works shot within Nijo Castle, as well as the film "ONE SECOND," which features over 300 young models and was the basis for selecting the models participating in "MOOD-9 GIRLS."
NAOKI was born in Nara in 1950. As a fashion photographer, he has worked for numerous fashion magazines and advertisements, and has been involved in the launch of many magazines. He is also known as a versatile creator who discovers and produces models, and provides hair and makeup direction. Drawing on his many years of fashion photography and the perspective he has gained from watching the growth of numerous models, he creates works themed around the image of Japanese girls in the 21st century.
