Masatoshi Nagase's photo exhibition "The Gap Between Changing Space and Time" will be held at Nakameguro IPS from the 29th

Mar 11, 2013

Actor and photographer Masatoshi Nagase will hold his first full-scale solo exhibition in Tokyo, "Between Time and Space," opening on March 29th. Nagase, who has always been known for his SLR camera, exhibited new works shot with instant film in Tokyo, Taipei, and elsewhere late last year. A photo book of the same title will also be published at the same time. On April 20th, he will host a pre-registration talk show featuring art director Satoru Machiguchi and curator Hisako Motoo, followed by a book signing session at Daikanyama T-Site on April 21st. Nagase made his debut in the 1983 film "Shounen Rider" and gained international acclaim as an actor in the American film "Mystery Train." He has a deep knowledge of art, including music and fine art, and has placed particular importance on photography. In 2001, he shot stills for Yukisada Isao's film "Luxurious Bones" and published his first original photo book. This year marks his 30th year as an actor, and he is currently working on long-term projects, such as taking portraits of people he has met along the way and closely photographing people from all prefectures of Japan, bringing the results of these projects to fruition in the form of an exhibition.
