Chanel Ginza to host solo exhibition by Tokyo-based photographer Aram Dikicyan

Mar 8, 2013

Photographer Aram Dikiciyan's solo exhibition "OUTLANDS" will be held at Chanel Nexus Hall in Tokyo's Ginza district. The exhibition runs from Friday, March 29th to Sunday, April 21st.
The exhibition features new works shot with a traditional film camera, showcasing monochrome works ranging from serendipitous moments to deliberately constructed situations.
Dikiciyan was born in West Berlin in 1974. Raised in an art-loving family, he began taking photographs professionally at the age of 22. His work was featured in a wide range of media, including advertisements and magazines, primarily in Berlin, and his highly artistic style was recognized. In 2004, he relocated to Tokyo in search of new horizons. Since 2008, he has been a member of CAMERA WORK, one of Berlin's leading photography galleries, and has held solo exhibitions in Tokyo, Berlin, and Hong Kong.

"In order to descend deep into the depths, one must be lifted by the power of light..." he says, and his work uses light and shadow in both abstract and concrete forms, and has been described as having "a sandy texture and a minimalist impression, a dry simplicity, and a melancholic quality that avoids depressing tendencies."
