Ichikawa Nagisa is the editor-in-chief of DiFa, an online magazine specializing in "digital technology x fashion." Always keeping her antennae up, Ginza is one of her favorite areas. She introduced us to ways to enjoy Ginza, a city that is always stimulating from various perspectives, including shopping, gourmet food, and art. The spots that Ichikawa took us to this time are places that can be enjoyed flexibly, regardless of the season or age of the visitor. She will introduce you to Ginza, a place that is perfect for visiting alone, as well as with family, friends, or a significant other.
SPOT1. AKOMEYA TOKYO
AKOMEYA TOKYO (AKOMEYA), opened in 2013 in the Ginza 2-Chome area. AKOMEYA Tokyo is a new type of lifestyle shop based on the concept of spreading happiness through rice, offering a wide selection of rice, foods, and seasonings from around Japan. It also has an on-site kitchen, where customers can enjoy specially crafted menu items. At lunchtime, the shop bustles with nearby office workers and shoppers. The first floor is focused on food, while the second floor is an artistic space filled with miscellaneous goods and artworks showcasing Japanese traditions and techniques. Ichikawa, who loves cooking, prefers Japanese cuisine made with carefully prepared dashi stock. "AKOMEYA's wide selection really inspires my culinary creativity," he says.

Comment: This shop offers a wide selection of appealing ingredients and seasonings. It's great that you don't have to order anything online. This is my favorite restaurant and I visit every time I come to Ginza.

SPOT 2. Creation Gallery G8

With its many galleries, Ginza offers a charming setting for elegant art appreciation. Ichikawa's favorite is Creation Gallery G8. Run by Recruit as part of its social contribution activities, the gallery hosts special exhibitions centered on design. At the time of the interview, the gallery was hosting "Date Knitting," a project featuring 177 creators and knitwear manufacturers from Date City, Fukushima Prefecture. This project, which also supports reconstruction efforts following the earthquake disaster, also saw elementary school students from Date City, Fukushima, try their hand at making knitwear. The exhibition evoked respect for all creators.

A variety of knitwear is also being sold for charity. It's fun to think of ways to use them.

I'm touched by the elementary school students' ingenuity.

Comment: The high-quality exhibits are free of charge, so it's great to be able to drop in between shopping or work.

>SPOT 3. Steinhaus Ginza

Having worked in Ginza, Ichikawa-san is also well-versed in the city's gourmet cuisine! Among the many renowned restaurants in Ginza, we've picked Steinhaus Ginza, known for its German beer, wine, and cuisine. Opened in 2008, this popular spot is always bustling for lunch and dinner. Enjoy German white beer and imported wines. On this day, we chose German specialties like sausages, pretzels, and marinated salad. Whether you're visiting with family, friends, or a significant other, or enjoying a drink at the bar alone, this restaurant is perfect for a variety of everyday occasions.

Franziskaner Weissbier is a popular white beer from Munich, Germany. This authentic beer served in a large glass is characterized by its banana-like flavor and creamy foam. It's not bitter and is easy to drink!

A popular dish is the sausage platter.

Comments about Ginza:
Ginza was the first downtown area I was taken to when I was little. It was like a wonderland with general stores, stationery stores, department stores, and everything you could want. Ginza is a city that is changing, but I think that the fact that it is a place where good things gather remains unchanged.
PROFILE:
After working in PR for a luxury brand, she is now a freelance digital communications consultant and editor-in-chief of DiFa. She also serves as a lecturer at Kyoto Seika University.
