GINZA SHOES ATELIER, the men's shoe corner on the 5th floor of Ginza Mitsukoshi, will be holding a gold-themed shoe project from March 30th to April 12th.
The project is part of the JAPAN SENSES campaign, which offers a variety of items made using Japanese techniques, and based on the theme of "change and transformation," will introduce shoes through gold, an element that has been cherished in Japan since ancient times.
During the event, color artists from each shoe manufacturer will be selling shoes in special colors created using their own unique sensibilities. They will showcase new gold expressions that are possible only through hand-dyeing and handmade processes, and the beauty that changes with wear. The five brands offered are Yuhak (110,000 yen), Otsuka Since 1872 (52,500 yen), Cento Felina (44,000 yen), Fresino (44,000 yen), and Madras (39,000 yen). Delivery takes approximately one month after ordering.
Ginza Shoe Atelier, located in the men's shoe section that opened in October 2015, has attracted attention for its new color order system that allows for cross-brand design and color combinations. Specifically, customers can order from 30 colors based on the shoes of the five brands mentioned above, for a total of 150 combinations. Each brand's color artist uses a different dyeing technique, allowing customers to enjoy the unique expression of each brand even within the same color family.
