Support Surface unveiled its 2016-2017 Autumn/Winter collection at Omotesando Hills Space O on March 17th. Under the theme of "Revisiting the Origins in Pursuit of Essence," designer Kenkabe Nobuo focused on the essential qualities of clothing. Rather than over-the-top design, the collection focused on minimalist designs and premium materials for a comfortable fit. The color palette was based on burgundy, beige, gray, and moss green. This season, a new velvet-like material with a soft yet firm feel and high-quality faux leather featured prominently. Raglan sleeves hug the shoulders, while voluminous cuffs and beautiful twisted draping create asymmetrical shapes, creating a feminine look throughout. The silhouette, designed with a focus on slenderness, is enhanced by the use of layers of the same and different materials, while three-dimensional patterns create a rounded silhouette. Additionally, many of the outerwear and dresses featured designs that placed emphasis on the back, showcasing Kenkabe's rich design sense amidst the simplicity.

Meanwhile, towards the end of the collection new looks were revealed, with large jacquard houndstooth and floral patterns, and garments made from delicate lace materials embroidered with feathers. These items were coordinated with materials from the early stages, adding colour to the collection pieces as a whole.

Based on "clothes that can be worn everyday," this season's collection possesses just the right amount of elegance to avoid becoming costumes. It is a collection that returns to its roots and reinterprets the value of putting clothes on.
