With the grand opening of the redeveloped store scheduled for March 6th just one month away, the Isetan Shinjuku store's women's and women's accessories joint get-together was held at a hotel in Tokyo on the 4th. Hosted by the Women's Department, the event was attended by approximately 700 people, including buyers, stylists, and related staff. Based on the theme of "unity beyond organizational boundaries," Mitsukoshi Isetan employees took to the stage to perform a series of performances to express their gratitude to the stylists (sales staff) and other staff members. The event's theme was "Dance Ketsu Kai," and the dress code was "sparkle," creating a lively and powerful atmosphere in keeping with Isetan's reputation for fashion. Performances by the department heads, including Golden Bomber and Exile, and a Juliana dance competition between the female department heads, livened up the event. Yasumichi Morita, the designer of the redevelopment and a symbol of sparkle, also participated, wearing a Chanel jacket.
To close the show, the comedy duo COWCOW, known for their tartan outfits from "Isetan's paper bags," appeared alongside none other than Taiyo Onishi, President and CEO of Mitsukoshi Isetan Holdings. They even danced together to "Atarimae Taisou" (Atarimae Exercise) with President Onishi, who for some reason had a sticker of a women's clothing item stuck on his forehead. President Onishi, who had been at the panel discussion held the day before for 1,470 yen, got laughs with a joke from the previous day, saying, "I bought the Atarimae Taisou DVD on Zozo for 1,470 yen," and got the crowd really excited. He took the initiative to "entertain" customers more than anyone else, and his spirits were raised as the grand opening approached, drawing cheers of "Hiro-shi!" from the stylists.
