I'm in Paris to cover Fashion Week. The temperature outside is below zero, the sky is overcast, and snow is falling lightly. Today is Sunday. Most stores are closed, and the city is silent.
Even so, I can sense the approaching Fashion Week. At Colette on the luxury shopping street, Rue Saint-Honoré, they're in the midst of redecorating their show windows. It appears that they'll be showcasing Dior by Raf Simons.
At the JOYCE gallery in the Palais Royal, preparations are complete for the Mugler pop-up shop, which opens tomorrow. Last season's bag collection is on display.
A long white tent has appeared in the Tuileries Garden, the main area of Fashion Week, between the Louvre and Place de la Concorde. Four major trade shows will be held here, attracting brands and buyers from around the world.
On the other side of the Rue de Rivoli, which runs alongside the Tuileries Gardens, is Angelina, known as Coco Chanel's beloved salon de the (tea salon). It's open even on Sundays, and today, as always, there was a long line of tourists waiting. Everyone was there for the Mont Blanc and Chocolat Chaud (hot chocolate). Both are incredibly sweet, but they're a must-try for a memorable stay in Paris.
I then returned home, freezing. While munching on my takeout Mont Blanc, I sat at my hotel computer preparing for my interview the next morning. I'll drink Alinamin A to help me survive what looks to be a hectic fashion week!
