Amid this, Spotify has released figures on global Christmas music listening trends. Even before December 2020, Christmas music listening time had already exceeded 6.5 billion minutes. Counting the total number of Christmas song plays since Spotify launched its service in 2008, the total is an astonishing 37 billion.
The world's popular holiday playlist, "Christmas Hits," has already seen increased listening in September and October compared to last year. The top 10 most popular Christmas songs on Spotify saw an average increase in listening share of 25% compared to October of last year. While Christmas songs have traditionally been listened to on weekends, it's interesting to note that this year, compared to past years, there's been a stronger trend of listening to them on weekdays.
