CHANEL's Spring/Summer 2017 ready-to-wear collection features a new collection of ballerina shoes. The Spring/Summer 2017 ready-to-wear collection, held at the Grand Palais in Paris, featured a runway lined with computer cabinets resembling the "Chanel Data Center," featuring models wearing robot masks in Chanel tweed and graphic pieces fused with colorful LEDs. Innovative ideas and details evoked the "Queen of the Digital World." This season's ballerina shoes come in a fresh color palette, including a futuristic colorway featuring metallic silver toe caps on the collection's key black grosgrain fabric, as well as a feminine and elegant fuchsia and burgundy and a masculine and intellectual navy and black. Furthermore, the classic powder pink quilting retains the two-tone design that makes the feet appear smaller, while a small CC mark is added to the toe cap. The timeless ballerina shoe has evolved into an even more modern look with updated materials and colors.
Inspired by the two-tone strap-back shoes designed by Gabrielle Chanel in 1957, the ballerina shoe was first introduced in the Spring/Summer 1984 ready-to-wear collection, and since then has been beloved as an important item that symbolizes the Chanel style, alongside the handbag.
