Enjoy a traditional Swedish Christmas! Real fir trees are coming to IKEA again this year

Release Date:2020.11.19
Nov 15, 2020
IKEA Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of IKEA, a Swedish home furnishing company with a vision of "creating a better everyday life for the many people," will begin selling real fir trees from November 19th. A gingerbread house contest will also be held from November 21st.

Christmas is one of Sweden's most important traditional events. In Sweden, it is customary to decorate your home with a real fir tree, which also has a pleasant fragrance. At IKEA, we sell real fir trees every year, hoping to help more people enjoy a jolly Christmas at home. Choose your favorite tree from a selection of different sizes and shapes. By watering and caring for your tree, you can enjoy its refreshing fragrance and vibrant, beautiful greenery throughout the Christmas season. Decorate it with your favorite ornaments and place gifts at its base to create a truly special Christmas tree. If you bring your used tree and "Tree Purchase Certificate" to an IKEA store within the return period, you can use the "Tree Purchase Certificate" as a shopping coupon worth 1,500 yen. IKEA will recycle collected trees responsibly and in an environmentally friendly manner.

Gingerbread houses are a traditional Swedish Christmas tradition. During the Christmas season, people create miniature gingerbread houses full of creative ideas. IKEA will be holding a gingerbread house contest again this year, following last year's huge success. Share photos of your uniquely decorated gingerbread houses. The winners will receive wonderful prizes.

IKEA stores nationwide also sell kits for making gingerbread houses.
