On March 15th, ISSEY MIYAKE opened its first flagship store in Italy on Via Bagutta in Milan's Quadrilatero district. The historic mansion, built by the Reina family between 1826 and 1831, was transferred to the City of Milan in 1921 and faithfully restored in 2014 before being reborn as the ISSEY MIYAKE flagship store. The store design was handled by designer and artist Tokujin Yoshioka. Regarding the opening, Issey Miyake said, "Design is about discovery and creation, creating reality, freedom, and innovation. It brings joy to people. For me, Milan is a city where all kinds of creativity come together. I am proud to be a part of it."
