On February 24th, DIESEL BLACK GOLD presented its Fall/Winter 2017-18 women's collection in Milan. Construction scaffolding created an industrial atmosphere as models strutted through the showroom. This season, long, lean silhouettes were the focus, with classic styles deconstructed and reconstructed to weave a new urban attitude.

The first look featured a turtleneck maxi knit dress, a long suede leather vest, and gloves made of the same knit with cut fingertips. This maxi knit dress was repeatedly layered, ultimately becoming a defining piece of the collection's long silhouette. The deconstructed elements were transformed into gloves as well as detachable ribbed knit collars, sleeves, cuffs, and shrugs, all of which were transformed in a variety of ways. The authentic style of the long, shared biker jacket was transformed into a leather trench coat and a zip-front maxi skirt, while tailoring was reimagined into trouser skirts and apron dresses, updating the look with a new purpose. Fabrics borrowed from the men's wardrobe included pinstripe suiting wool, glen plaid, and corduroy, while a micro-geometric print silk chiffon dress fluttered lightly in the breeze. Functional leather and suede sneakers adorned the feet. Spontaneous elements, allowing for silhouettes to be freely altered by opening and closing zippers, belts, and buttons, were evident throughout, suggesting pieces that can be worn in a variety of ways. The long silhouettes added movement and vibrancy to the collection, while at the same time, the nostalgia for fashions of the past made it feel familiar.
