2020 marks 30 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall and the unification of East and West Germany. To commemorate this occasion, we will be holding a German watch fair focusing on two brands that represent the former East and West Germany.
The Federal Republic of Germany, which has close ties with Japan, saw the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, and the two countries officially reunited on October 3, 1990. This year marks the 30th anniversary of that event.
The German watch industry, which was once on the brink of extinction following the division of East and West Germany, made a remarkable recovery after German reunification. In the former East Germany, state-owned watch manufacturing companies were split up and privatized, resulting in the revival of several brands. Meanwhile, the former West Germany achieved a miraculous economic recovery and development under a capitalist system after the war.
The German Watch Fair 2020 will be held at selected stores, focusing on two brands: NOMOS Glashütte, a mechanical watch brand based in Glashütte representing the former East Germany, and Sinn, a specialty watch manufacturer based in Frankfurt representing the former West Germany.
The fair will highlight the four key characteristics of German watches represented by these brands: precision, robustness, high quality, and craftsmanship. The lineup will allow you to experience the essence of German watches, cultivated throughout their respective histories.
NOMOS craftsmanship: We believe that their thorough attention to design is also a valuable skill.
Sinn's Robustness: Perhaps the sense of security you feel when you buy a German product lies in its toughness. Sinn, known for its pilot's watches, has watches that fulfill that German spirit.

Founded in 1990 in Glashütte, the heart of Germany's watch industry, NOMOS has consistently conducted research and development, movement manufacturing, and assembly in Glashütte, while all design work is done in Berlin. Its designs, strongly influenced by the ideals of the Deutsche Werkbund and the Bauhaus, are now recognized worldwide and have won over 150 awards. Soon celebrating its 60th anniversary, Sinn has a strong attachment to its home city of Frankfurt. While the city's watchmaking history is still short, Sinn will continue to produce watches here.
Sinn's official name is "Sinn Spezialuhren" in German, which translates to "Sinn Special Watch Company" in Japanese. Since its founding in Frankfurt in 1961, the company has combined traditional, meticulous craftsmanship with pioneering innovation to create timepieces that can be trusted for a lifetime and deliver the highest precision even under extreme conditions.
