The public audition for the "GUESS GIRL SEARCH," a model audition by the American apparel brand GUESS, which is scheduled to launch in Japan next spring, was held in Aoyama, Tokyo, on the 2nd. Ines Ligron, former national director of Miss Universe Japan, and 2008 Miss Universe Japan Hiroko Mima, along with others, gave walking and posing lessons to the 20 candidates who passed the document screening. Ines commented, "I was born in the South of France, just like the Marciano brothers who founded GUESS, so I really empathize with the glamorous image of a GUESS girl. It's important for a model to have a radiant personality, not just a good look." Many of the candidates, aged 18 to 29, were beauty-conscious women who regularly exercised, and even in the same costume of a GUESS T-shirt and jeans, each exuded their own unique style.
Photographs of the 20 candidates taken by photographer Mark Albert, whom Ines praises for "capturing any woman in a beautiful and sexy way," will be released on the campaign website (guessgirl.com) from midnight on the 11th. Public voting will be open until 11:59 PM on December 1st, and a total of 50 voters will be randomly selected to receive a Guess wristwatch, eau de toilette, and tote bag. After final judging by the brand's C.E.O. and creative director, Paul Mariciano, the grand prize winner will be announced on the 12th of next month via the campaign website and social media.
From its founding to the present day, Guess' advertising visuals have featured many top models, including Claudia Schiffer, Eva Herzigova, Carla Bruni, Anna Nicole Smith, and Amber Heard. The models, known as Guess Girls, embody the brand's concept of "SEXY, YOUNG, ADVENTUROUS."
