Nov 19, 2013

The luxury chocolate shop Compartes Chocolatier will be selling limited-edition Valentine's Day items for 2014 and collaboration products with Diesel starting mid-January next year. These playful limited-edition items include the "Valentine's Special Truffle" (¥2,100), a set of five truffles topped with a three-dimensional skull; the "Love Fruit Limited Tin" (¥1,575), filled with the year-round popular Love Fruit; and the "Russian Skull" (¥1,050), one of five of which contains an extremely spicy chocolate. The "Love & Hate in Dynamite" collaboration with Diesel includes a pair of Diesel socks or underwear and four limited-edition orange-flavored Russian skulls, packaged in a dynamite-themed box. The socks set will be priced at ¥4,725, and the underwear set at ¥6,300, and will be available at select stores.

Compartes was founded in Los Angeles in 1950 by its founder, Madame Compartier, bringing with her European chocolate-making techniques and recipes. It is currently owned by Jonathan Grahm, known as the "Chocolate Boy." Its products have been selected for the official parties of the Golden Globe Awards and the Academy Awards, and are loved by many celebrities, including Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman, and David Beckham. It arrived in Japan in January 2011, opening a freestanding store in Minami-Aoyama. Last year, the company collaborated with Diesel for Valentine's Day, and at the end of last year, it also held a collaborative cafe with SEE BY CHLOE.
