SHOOP, winner of the TOKYO FASHION AWARD 2020, presented their Spring/Summer 2021 collection at Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO. The final runway show of the fashion week, held at Shibuya Hikarie Hall, featured musician/DJ Seiho and percussionist/singer-songwriter Kakudo Mami, who performed an alternative live show synchronized with the show. Taking place amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which has seen the world exploring new ways to hold fashion events, the show delivered a striking expression of Tokyo's millennial generation.

SHOOP is a unisex brand designed by Miriam S_anz and Yohei Oki, who met at art school in Spain. They are based in Madrid and Tokyo. They began producing collections in 2013 and have been presenting their work at exhibitions since Spring/Summer 2015. With support from Nike, they participated in Madrid Fashion Week for the Fall/Winter 2018 season and were selected as a Designer to Watch 2018 by Vogue Talents. In June of this year, they presented a special project with ASICS using digital artwork at London Fashion Week. The brand is known for its strong affinity with music culture, having been worn by rappers such as DRAKE and Octavian, and R&B singer Tinashe.

Inspired by the dystopian atmosphere that has permeated the entire post-pandemic season, this collection features a military coat made from technical nylon covered with a hood and organza mask, and pants with a zipper on the front that change the look, softening the overall harsh impression by styling them with gradient knitwear and transparent items.

The collaboration with former Final Home designer Suda Shinichi expands the story of the collection and is interesting, with handprint prints evoking the image of Cold War bone records (X-ray records), a mask tote bag inspired by disaster prevention hoods, and a detachable mask/pocket shirt.
