The Hermès Gion store (570-8 Gioncho Minamigawa, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto City), located on Hanamikoji Street in Gion, Kyoto, is hosting a timepiece-focused event, "TIME, A HERMES OBJECT," through June 21st.
For Hermès, the brand that has created many iconic watches, including the "H Watch" and "Cape Cod," time is also an object. This event will express a unique interpretation of time in various forms, based on the Maison's watchmaking perspective, which is not limited to typical concepts such as measuring or controlling time.
The first floor of the store features a special showcase set within an impressive three-dimensional latticework space inspired by traditional Japanese techniques. A wide variety of colorful timepieces, including the new 2017 collection, will be on display. The second floor also features four monitors, each displaying a different, mysterious effect in response to the visitor's movements, creating an interactive space. At the photo booth, visitors were given a unique opportunity to take photos that made them look like they were juggling while chasing their own shadows, which could then be printed out on the spot or sent to their smartphones by entering an email address.
Also, to coincide with the first day of the event, a mini-sized strap model of the new "Nantucket" watch in the limited edition "Rose Lipstick" color was released in advance at the Gion store and online boutique from June 2nd.
