Banana Republic Announces Global Holiday Campaign "Love The Present"

Oct 26, 2020
Banana Republic will be running a holiday campaign this season featuring real families and couples who share love in their own unique ways. The campaign video, themed "Love the Present," which reflects deep bonds, affection, and gratitude for the present moment, is being broadcast across the United States as a television commercial for the brand's seasonal campaign, the first since 2005.

The campaign features Guinevere van Seenus, author Beau Friedlander, Barbara Valente, photographer Paulo Almeida, and Samantha Marie. The video features five real-life families and couples who are gaining attention in the United States, including couples Gradoville and Nicola Wincenc, Sanna Backstrom and Lucas Cristino, and their son August. The video depicts unique family moments celebrating the holidays at home, and proposes fashion that combines comfort and trendy style, including a high-quality outerwear collection, soft knitwear that can be worn daily, and gorgeous skirts that add color to the holiday season.

"The 2020 holiday season has been a year like no other, and it's a great opportunity to refocus on what really matters, like spending time with loved ones and enjoying the little moments in everyday life," said Mike Janover, Head of Marketing at Banana Republic. "With consumer purchasing trends shifting and people staying at home more than ever, now is the perfect time to reach a broad audience through national broadcast and showcase the versatility of our products."

In addition to the campaign video, Banana Republic will continue to demonstrate its commitment to being a better brand by supporting those in need this holiday season, a time to show gratitude. This will begin with further expanding its partnership with Feeding America(R).

This partnership began in May 2020, when Banana Republic donated proceeds from sales of masks to Feeding America(R)'s COVID-19 Response Fund. On Giving Tuesday, December 1, 2020, Banana Republic will donate $10 per sweater to Feeding America(R), up to a total of $25,000, adding to its total donations of over $220,000 to date.

"We're honored to partner with Banana Republic again this holiday season," said Lauren Biedron, VP of Corporate Partnerships at Feeding America. "Millions of Americans need food bank support. In 2020 alone, one-sixth of the population may face food insecurity due to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. We're grateful for Banana Republic's efforts and the more than $220,000 they've donated to combat hunger."

Feeding America will also donate $35,000 to CARE (http://fight.care.org/), an organization dedicated to ending poverty and achieving social justice for women and girls around the world. CARE has been Gap Inc.'s long-time implementation partner for its P.A.C.E. (Personal Advancement & Career Enhancement) program. The program began in 2007 and has provided basic life skills and technical training to more than 500,000 women in 17 countries. To date, Banana Republic has donated more than $225,000 to CARE.
