Seiko Watch Corporation will release a limited edition model from its authentic sports watch brand, Seiko Prospex, in Japan and overseas from November 20, 2020. The model expresses the beauty of the Earth's atmosphere as seen from outer space with a blue and black gradient dial and a two-tone sapphire crystal bezel display. The suggested retail price is 638,000 yen (tax included) (580,000 yen excluding tax).

This watch recreates the stratosphere, which changes from black to blue due to atmospheric changes, on your wrist.

The LX line, born from Seiko Prospex, represents the pinnacle of Seiko sportswear. Named after the Latin word "lux," this series is intended to inspire the wearer with a sense of radiance. It is a high-end collection that combines aesthetic sophistication with practicality.

The movement inside this watch is Seiko's original Spring Drive (※1), which was used in space in 2008 and has proven its reliability by continuing to display accurate time even in harsh environments such as zero gravity and sudden temperature changes. This limited-edition model is inspired by the mystical scenery seen only from space, a place where Spring Drive watches once traveled. The gradient dial and two-tone sapphire crystal bezel display evoke the stratosphere, whose color changes from black to blue due to atmospheric changes. The beautiful finish, which changes appearance depending on the angle of light, evokes the majestic Earth, illuminated by the sun, standing in space. Seiko Prospex is a sports watch brand offering authentic functionality for sports and outdoor activities, including diving and trekking. The lineup, which spans three distinct fields—land, sea, and air—originates from the first Japanese-made diver's watch released in 1965. Over the past 50 years, the brand has continued to evolve and earn the acclaim and trust of professionals worldwide.

(※1) Spring Drive
Like a mechanical watch, Spring Drive is a Seiko-original drive mechanism that uses the unwinding power of a mainspring as a power source, while accurately controlling precision using an IC and quartz oscillator. It features no need for a battery, stable timekeeping accuracy that is virtually unaffected by external factors such as temperature changes, shocks, and vibrations, as well as a smooth, flowing movement of the second hand (sweeping movement).

(※2) DiaShield
"DiaShield" is a surface treatment technology developed exclusively by Seiko to protect the watch's original beautiful shine and beautiful finish from scratches and minor marks that occur during everyday use.
