The documentary film "Homeless: The Man Who Slept with New York," which garnered significant attention after its release in New York, will be released nationwide starting January 28, 2017, at Human Trust Cinema Shibuya and other theaters. The film's protagonist is Mark Ray, 52, a fashion model and photographer. He wears designer suits and his handsome, charming looks make him popular with women. While he may seem like a "winner" everyone envies, he has actually been homeless for nearly six years. His home isn't a penthouse in Manhattan, but the rooftop of an apartment building in a multi-tenant district. Desperate to survive in a competitive society without a family or partner, he has developed a "homeless lifestyle." This documentary follows Ray's "homeless lifestyle"—no housing, no housing costs—over the course of three years. The film is directed by Thomas Wiltensohn, a fashion model himself and Mark's friend from Australia. While working as a fashion model, he has also worked on promotional videos and still photography for companies such as Pierre Cardin, New York City Ballet, and Facebook. When Mark suddenly confessed to him that he was homeless, he was surprised and decided to make a documentary about Mark as a symbol of the fashion industry's behind-the-scenes and new lifestyle. This is his first feature-length film, which he planned, co-produced, directed, filmed, and co-edited.
The music is by Kyle Eastwood, son of actor and film director Clint Eastwood. Kyle has provided music for eight of his father's films, including "Gran Torino," and has released six solo albums. He brings a beautiful and stylish color palette to the entire film.
