To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the creation of Miffy (the bunny), a character created by Dutch picture book author and graphic designer Dick Bruna, a charity auction called "Miffy Art Parade" will be held from November 14th to 25th.
The auction is part of the "Miffy Art Parade," an event held in Miffy's birthplace, the Netherlands, and Japan to commemorate the character's 60th anniversary. Forty-five Dutch and 15 Japanese creators painted and decorated a pure white 180-centimeter-tall Miffy, creating one-of-a-kind Miffy figures. The 15 Miffy figures decorated by the Japanese creators were exhibited nationwide, starting with the "Miffy 60th Anniversary Exhibition" held at Matsuya Ginza in Tokyo in April last year.
To coincide with the end of the exhibition tour at the end of October, a charity auction will be held offering the opportunity to acquire Miffy figures by 15 renowned Japanese creators. The auction will be open to bidders via email or fax, with proceeds benefiting UNICEF's education programs. The minimum bid is 300,000 yen. The highest bidder will be contacted by November 30th and an invoice will be mailed. Payment is due by December 7th. The lineup of creators includes Ozu Makoto, Kagoshima Mutsumi, Kikuchi Atsumi, Kesennuma Knitting & Hobonichi Itoi Shimbun, Koizumi Makoto, Goda Tsuneo, Sano Kenjiro, Sobue Shin, tupera tupera, Nagasaka Tsune, Hibino Kodue, Fukuda Toshiyuki, Masuda Sebastian, Misawa Atsuhiko, and Yorifuji Bunpei. Finally, to give visitors an opportunity to view the works in person, the "Miffy Art Parade Exhibition" will be held at Daikanyama Hillside Terrace Building F in Daikanyama, Tokyo, from November 18th to 20th.
