Nike has released a "Day of the Dead" collection paying tribute to family, scheduled for release on October 27th.


This year's Nike "Dia de Muertos" collection remixes the Nike Air Max 90, Nike Daybreak Type, Nike Blazer Mid, and Air Jordan 1 Mid in a modern way that draws on art and culture.

Taking design inspiration from traditional altars used for the Day of the Dead, each shoe features colors, patterns and details reminiscent of the delicate, hand-made papel picado (paper cutouts) and bouquets of flowers that are displayed on altars.

In addition, as the "Day of the Dead" collection is a traditional event that reflects on one's roots, it also conveys a sense of awareness of family, with the words "Para Mi Familia" (meaning "For Family") appearing on the heel of the "Nike Daybreak Type" and the toe of the "Air Jordan 1 Mid" in the collection.



This collection will be available on NIKE.COM, the NIKE app and at select Nike retailers.
