This exhibition is a spatial experience grounded in Virgil Abloh's dreamlike expression. As Louis Vuitton's Men's Artistic Director from 2018 to 2021, Virgil consistently challenged audiences to imagine a world beyond artificial limitations. Embracing fashion as a tool for change, the designer hoped to reconnect with people's childlike outlook and build a culture free of preconceived notions of human and material value. At Louis Vuitton, he continually questioned the meaning of "high and low," an attitude that is reflected in every image and design he creates. As a high fashion designer born out of the streetwear community shaped by hip-hop, Virgil Abloh has blurred the lines between the two realms, using his platform to celebrate the historical influence of Black subculture on mainstream fashion. His work is first and foremost about humanity and unity. Taking Virgil's philosophy as its starting point, the Louis Vuitton and Nike "Air Force 1" by Virgil Abloh offers a unique look at the designer's Summer 2021 sneakers through his unique lens. Located in Brooklyn's Greenpoint Terminal warehouse, the exhibition is bathed in vibrant orange and dotted with Louis Vuitton and Nike logos. The grid-like structure represents an aerial view of the blueprint for the fictional city built within the space. Visitors will walk across a giant logo projected onto a mirrored ceiling, surrounded by 3D-printed sculptures created by Virgil Abloh during his time at Louis Vuitton, and framed by a wall of clouds featured in Virgil's show sets and campaign imagery.

Inspired by the surrealist influences central to Virgil's work, 47 Louis Vuitton and Nike Air Force 1 models will be displayed in a mobile format. On magnetic walls and holographic displays, sneakers move, inspired by breakdance moves rooted in hip-hop culture, inseparable from sneaker history. The treehouse, built above the city, embodies the childhood spirit that Virgil Abloh felt close to. Inside, a meticulous recreation of the Louis Vuitton studio and atelier on the Pont Neuf in Paris, where Virgil's office once stood, visitors can experience the savoir-faire that was central to Virgil's creative work at the Maison and the exceptional craftsmanship that goes into creating sneakers at the Maison's shoe atelier in Fiesso d'Artico. Building bridges between countries and cultures, large glass boxes will be placed throughout New York City throughout the exhibition, showcasing globe-shaped sculptures in keeping with the exhibition's theme. These installations can be experienced at Domino Park, Grand Central, South Street Seaport, Astor Place, Columbus Circle, Flatiron Plaza, and Gansevoort Plaza. The globe symbolizes a unifying motif that Virgil Abloh has repeatedly expressed in his collections, shows, and imagery.
