[LOOK] YOHEI OHNO presents "a pure sex" for Spring/Summer 2026. "Dressing up for everyday life" that dissolves the boundaries between self and other.

YOHEI OHNO presented his Spring/Summer 2026 collection, "a pure sex." Born out of a disconnect between the response to the previous season and social reaction, this season's offerings are rooted in honesty about uncertainty and stagnation, and are strongly marked by a commitment to exploring new aesthetic possibilities.

A Process of Blending with Others
Rather than secluding himself within his own aesthetic, the designer worked on the creation of the pieces in a team, including assistants, exchanging ideas with fellow designers. From the individual to the collaborative—this open approach is seen as an attempt to expand fashion from "self-expression" to "social engagement."

Giving shape to “ineffable comfort”
This season’s exploration of materials is prominent. Summer wool from the bubble era, tucked away in Oshu, is reinterpreted, and a linen blend is used extensively, creating a refined yet unfashionable fabric. This approach to rediscovering the “joy of touch,” often left behind in the age of social media, harkens back to the primal experience of wearing clothes. This feeling, which the designer calls “ineffable comfort,” touches upon the core of the sense of security that clothing brings.

Dressing up in the everyday
YOHEI OHNO, who has always been conscious of universality, presents a new axis this season: "dressing up in the everyday." He has developed items that fit in with modern lifestyles, such as dresses made from casual materials and combinations of decorative tops and authentic denim. Rather than outfits for special occasions, the collection is aimed at outfits that update the everyday—this approach opens up new style possibilities for urban dwellers.

What the title “a pure sex” represents
The collection title, "a pure sex," is taken from a YouTube comment describing the play of Japan national soccer team player Mitoma Kaoru. The designer was attracted to the elegance of the words, and chose this title because he felt that "the attitude of wanting to become one with someone or something, even if it meant abandoning oneself," is something he needed right now.

In the look, these ideas are incorporated into the forms and textures, visualizing a light and intelligent idea of "everyday dressing up." What YOHEI OHNO has presented is a new vision of connecting with others through clothing, and is one proposal to keep an eye on in the fashion of the second half of the 2020s.
