ISSEY MIYAKE GINZA | CUBE in Ginza, Tokyo, and ISSEY MIYAKE SEMBA | CREATION SPACE in Osaka are hosting an exhibition by 132 5. titled "Shapes and Thoughts Born from Folding." The exhibition will run from September 1 to November 11, 2025 in Ginza, and from September 1 to November 7 in Osaka.

The beauty of form created by folding structures
The focus of this exhibition is the "folding structure" that underlies the clothing designs of the brand "132 5." When a flat piece of fabric is folded multiple times and one edge is lifted, the folds become three-dimensional, becoming a garment. This transformation process is visualized as an installation. It is a space where visitors can experience the surprise and beauty of the moment when a garment "takes shape," just like art.

Uncovering the process of how clothing is made
In addition, the cycle from recycled raw materials to thread and fabric to clothing is introduced through video and actual exhibits. The exhibition reexamines clothing not as something to be consumed, but as a "thought process" accompanied by ideas and concepts. Approaching fashion from both the perspectives of design and sustainability, the exhibition can be seen as an attempt to open up fashion to the future.
