Y's, a brand developed by Yohji Yamamoto, has collaborated with the Italian company Alcantara to create a collection using the luxurious fabric Alcantara as part of its 2014-2015 Autumn/Winter collection. A fashion show was held at the Italian Embassy on March 26th as part of an event titled "The Fusion of Italian Art (Heart) and Japanese Technology."

Y's, which was founded on the concept of women wearing men's clothing, has set the theme for this season as "elegant military." Inspired by the military uniforms and fashion of the Napoleonic era in France from the late 18th to early 19th centuries, the collection mixes military elements with feminine and modern designs. The Alcantara outerwear, bottoms, bags, and other items featured at the show featured special treatments such as this season's signature floral prints, silver lamination, and quilting, and items made from Alcantara woven like knitwear were also unveiled.

Japan's top young models, including Hana Matsushima, Kozue Akimoto, and Mona Matsuoka, also appeared on the runway. Many fashion industry insiders and members of the press were also invited, adding a touch of glamour to the launch of Alcantara's business, which announced its full-scale entry into Japan prior to the show. The collaborative collection will be available for purchase on a made-to-order basis.
