Blue Bottle Coffee Japan LLC will open its second Yokohama store, the Blue Bottle Coffee Minato Mirai Cafe, inside MARK IS Minato Mirai on September 25, 2020. To coincide with the opening, original furniture designed with the Karimoku Case Study will be available for a limited time on the Blue Bottle Coffee official online store.

Located in front of the Yokohama Museum of Art, the Blue Bottle Coffee Minato Mirai Cafe offers an open, glass-walled space with a comfortable, soft feel, featuring curved lines and wood materials. The furniture used in the cafe was designed in collaboration with Keiji Ashizawa Architects, the cafe's designer, and Copenhagen-based design studio Norm Architects, and manufactured by Karimoku Furniture. We are pleased to present three of these chairs as part of the "Karimoku Case Study for Blue Bottle Coffee" collection. By taking a design approach that considers the landscape, the café's spatial design, and even the furniture details as a single experience, we have created a café and furniture design that blends harmoniously with the surrounding landscape.

Karimoku Case Study for Blue Bottle Coffee Product List

Cafe Chair ¥63,700
This chair was developed based on a dining chair made for an apartment in Kinuta, and has been made lighter and slimmer for the Blue Bottle Coffee Minato Mirai Cafe. The result is a flexible and versatile chair without losing the original character. The soft, warm wood brings a homely, comfortable atmosphere to the cafe.

Bar Stool 77,500 yen
Like the cafe chair, this bar stool is based on a dining chair designed for a previous project. The natural curves of the design, the craftsmanship and quality, and the size of the backrest make the chair even more comfortable. All of these come together to create this bar stool.

Side Chair 135,600 yen
The clean form and fresh design language, as well as the soft, comfortable seat, were inspired by the interior elements of Blue Bottle Coffee's Minato Mirai Cafe. With a low backrest and compact legs, it is neither a dining chair nor a stool, but rather combines the best of both worlds to create a chair that meets the functionality required in a cafe.
