Commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Moomin creator Tove Jansson, the "MOOMIN! Moomin Exhibition" will kick off at Matsuya Ginza on April 16th and travel to 10 cities across Japan. This unprecedented exhibition will feature approximately 200 original drawings from the Tampere Art Museum and Moominvalley Museum in Finland, including approximately 150 original illustrations from the Moomin fairy tales, including sketches and studies, some of which will be shown in Japan for the first time. The exhibition will be organized around the themes of the Moomin fairy tales: "The Four Seasons of Moominvalley," "Moominvalley Scenery," "Mysterious Creatures," and "The Power of Nature." In addition to the original drawings, doll maker Chiyo Taniguchi, who was a close friend of the author Tove, has created a Moominvalley diorama specifically for the exhibition, recreating famous scenes from the fairy tale illustrations. By comparing the Moomin's lifestyles with the four seasons and their ways of dealing with harsh natural phenomena with the Finnish and Nordic landscapes where Tove lived, the exhibition will showcase the depth of the Moomin world, which is not just adorable.
There will also be a goods shop selling original Moomin Valley Museum products, as well as venue-exclusive items such as stationery, tableware, and miscellaneous goods based on the original drawings featured in the exhibition.
