German Spring Festival at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse. A 30m-long giant beer counter appears.

Mar 12, 2014

Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse will be holding "YOKOHAMA FRUHLINGS FEST 2014," an event that recreates a German spring festival, from April 25th to May 6th.

The venue will feature a food lineup that evokes Germany, five attractions, and live performances by a German orchestra. The food and beverage zone, featuring German beer and local Kanagawa craft beers, will feature a giant 30-meter-long beer counter. Germany's spring-only beer, "Frühlingsbock," will be bottled exclusively for this event and served faster than any other beer in Japan. The food area, set in a hut (wooden hut) imported from Germany, will offer sausages that go perfectly with beer, dishes using asparagus (white asparagus), a vegetable beloved for heralding the arrival of spring, and sweet treats such as pretzels filled with sweet cream cheese. The attraction zone facing Yokohama Port offers a variety of attractions for children to enjoy, including a trampoline where you can jump up to 7 meters, a "Giant Creative Block" where you can play with soft blocks, and a "Kick Point Target" that mimics a soccer penalty kick. A special booth will also be set up in conjunction with the "Detective Conan 20-Hour Commemorative Conan Exhibition," which will be held at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse No. 1 from April 24th to May 10th, where you can take commemorative photos. Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse is well-known for its German culture, with events like "Oktoberfest" and "Christmas Market" held throughout the year, and this event recreates a festival celebrating the arrival of spring. The first event, held last year, attracted approximately 460,000 visitors.
