Art Fusion 01, a new visual magazine edited by Art Beat Publishers, will launch on March 28th. Priced at 2,000 yen, it will be bilingual in Japanese and English and published by Little More.

The inaugural issue features a number of cutting-edge artists. Rhizomatiks' Manabe Daito 3D scanned the movements of actress Fukushima Rila, which photographer Suzuki Chikashi has transformed into fashion photography. Kishin Shinoyama will present a collaborative work capturing the dance of Kanamori Jo, whom Shinoyama praises for "every moment of perfect beauty," and the performance of Kanamori's dance company, Noism. Young photographer Koyama Taisuke and contemporary artist Nawa Kohei will present a sequel to their first collaborative work, "SANDWICH Textures," from 2011. Other names on the list include Vivienne Sassen, Mai Choo Pelle, Yuki Onodera x Kunihiko Morinaga (designers for ANREALAGE), Daisuke Yokota, Ina Jean, Taiyo Onorato & Nico Krebs, and Bettina Rheims.

"We've put together an exciting lineup of works currently happening at the forefront of contemporary art. What will the fusion of these works produce next? That is our goal," commented Shigeo Goto and Sawako Fukai of Art Beat Publishers.

With the goal of "taking on the challenge of fusing art and fashion using photography as a medium," the project will feature cutting-edge artists, photographers, fashion designers, and brands from around the world. The project aims to be a trendsetter in image creation for the second half of the 2010s.

Editorial direction is by Goto Shigeo, editors are Goto Shigeo and Fukai Sawako, and editorial staff include Sato Yuri, Goto Sakurako, Cho Zhihai, and Koike Aiko. Art direction is by functive, graphic textures by Nawa Kohei, and digital typography by Manabe Daito.

The book will be on sale at Isetan Shinjuku and other art book stores and select shops around the world.
