Actor Gary Oldman was born on March 21, 1958, in London, England.
After studying at several drama schools, he worked as a stage actor until the mid-1980s. His film debut was in "Remembrance" in 1982. He rose to fame playing Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols in the 1986 film "Sid and Nancy," and continued to steadily build his career, appearing in films such as "JFK" (1991), "Dracula" (1992), and "True Romance" (1993).
His performance in "Leon" (1994) was particularly well-received, and he increasingly played eccentric and villainous roles. However, after having children, he sought to dispel that image by appearing in the "Harry Potter" series and the "Batman" series, demonstrating his wide-ranging acting. He is currently appearing in the film "Robocop," and the latest installment of the "Planet of the Apes" series is also scheduled for release.
In his personal life, he has been divorced three times and is well known for his relationship with actress Uma Thurman. In 2008, he married a jazz singer who is 19 years his junior. In 2012, he attracted attention when he was chosen to appear in an advertising campaign for fashion brand "PRADA" and also appeared in the fashion show.
