To celebrate the 5th anniversary of the matohu Omotesando flagship store, the store will host a guest artist event, "Tachihara Inuki: Experience Japanese Beauty through Woodblock Prints," from July 23rd to 31st.

Tachihara Inuki was a self-taught artist who mastered the techniques of ukiyo-e printmaking, and through extensive research into the paper, paints, and tools used during the Edo period, is the only artist to have truly reproduced and restored works. He has collaborated with and illustrated works by artists such as Yumemakura Baku and Ekuni Kaori. In 2014, he met matohu designers Horihata Hiroyuki and Sekiguchi Makiko, and continued to share a deep spiritual connection with them. However, last year, just before his exhibition at matohu, he suddenly fell ill and passed away.

This exhibition, following in the footsteps of Tachihara Inuki, will showcase a glimpse of his artistic career, providing an opportunity to experience the world of authentic woodblock prints, imbued with Japanese aesthetic sensibilities.
