Experience piloting a robot aimed at the moon! A limited-time event featuring lunar exploration team HAKUTO will be held at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store

Jul 22, 2016

From July 13th to 26th, the private lunar exploration team HAKUTO will be exhibiting their lunar exploration robot, the "Rover," at Hajimari Cafe GATE-A on the 7th floor of the Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Building. HAKUTO is the only private lunar exploration team from Japan participating in the Google Lunar XPRIZE, an international prize competition sponsored by Google for lunar robot exploration. The team is comprised of three pillars: ispace, a venture company headed by team leader Takeshi Hakamada; the Yoshida Laboratory at Tohoku University; and pro bono volunteers. Building on university research technology, the team welcomes professionals from both the private space industry and non-space-related industries to join. They are working on developing, fundraising for, and promoting a lunar rover. This time, HAKUTO's lunar exploration robot, the "Rover," will be on display. On weekends and holidays from July 16th to 24th, visitors can experience controlling the rover using a tablet in an area designed to resemble the lunar surface. During the event, HAKUTO support merchandise will be available for purchase and supporter membership will be available.
