teamLab will be holding "DMM.Planets Art by teamLab" at the "Odaiba Minna no Yume Tairiku 2016" event, taking place in the Odaiba/Aomi area from July 16 to August 31. Their latest work, "Floating in the Falling Universe of Flowers," is an enormous dome installation. Measuring 21 meters in diameter and 10.8 meters in height, the installation depicts an infinite universe in which a year's worth of flowers blooms and changes with the passing of time. Visitors can select and throw butterflies using their smartphones, causing them to dance in the floral universe. The work is continuously rendered in real time by a computer program, with flowers born, growing, budding, blooming, eventually shedding their petals, withering, and dying. This interactive piece allows visitors to lie down and experience the sensation of floating through a universe of over 10 million blooming flowers falling from the sky. Also on display will be "Wander through the Crystal Universe," an interactive installation that expresses outer space through a collection of light sculptures. The sculptures are made up of a collection of light points, which are digitally controlled to move interactively. Visitors can use their smartphones to select the elements that make up the Crystal Universe, make them appear, and create the Crystal Universe. Visitors can also enter the space and walk around, with the elements influencing each other and the viewer's presence in the space.
