DIVKA has presented its 2013-14 Autumn/Winter collection. Designer Takayuki Tanaka and pattern maker Motoyuki Matsumoto are the duo behind the collection.
The theme of the collection is "condition," and inspired by an out-of-focus photograph taken by a child, the duo aimed to create garments that are on the border between finished and unfinished, even at the toile assembly stage.
The collection features a color palette of black, gray, and blue gradations, showcasing pieces that make full use of the drape of fabric. One graphic print is a blurred photograph of flowers taken by a child. The piece was printed on polyester georgette, creating a draped dress and skirt. Other pieces include wool knitwear, outerwear, and jersey jersey tops, crafted with various fabric shapes using cutting, gathering, and twisting techniques.
DIVKA was selected as a supported designer in the professional category of the 2012 Tokyo New Designer Fashion Awards, and received the Tokyo Governor's Award.
