To celebrate the release of "Bill Cunningham & New York" (distributed by Star Sands and Doma), a documentary about photographer Bill Cunningham, Isetan Shinjuku and BEAMS will be holding their first joint promotion from May 1st to 12th.

Bill Cunningham is a leading New York fashion photographer and the originator of street fashion snaps, having photographed fashion trends every day on the streets of New York for over 50 years. This joint promotion was made possible by the desire of both companies to spread Bill's message of "enjoying fashion" to as many people in Japan as possible.

During the promotion, window displays showcasing the worldview of Bill's photographs will be displayed on the third floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku, as well as at BEAMS Japan (Shinjuku), International Gallery BEAMS (Harajuku), and BEAMS Osaka (Shinsaibashi). Additionally, Beams will be selling original mugs (3,675 yen) featuring quotes from Bill Cunningham himself, as well as T-shirts (5,040 yen) featuring words of appreciation from Anna Wintour, both of which are featured in the film. The mugs and T-shirts will also be sold at Isetan Shinjuku.

Bill was the author of the popular fashion column "On the Street" and the social column "Evening Hours" for The New York Times. Director Richard Press spent eight years negotiating to film this film, capturing details of his private life that even his closest industry insiders knew little about.

One day, after accidentally photographing legendary actress Greta Garbo on the street, a series of snapshots was published in The New York Times in December 1978.

His sharp sense and unique perspective attracted the attention of fashion people around the world, including Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of American Vogue, and he played a role in introducing brands such as Azzedine Alaia and Jean-Paul GAULTIER to the United States, influencing fashion journalism. At the age of 84, he continues to be an influential fashion photographer.

"Bill Cunningham & New York" will be released in theaters nationwide, including Shinjuku Wald 9, from May 18th.
