ABOUT Merlette
Based in Brooklyn, New York, Merlette is a wardrobe for women who travel freely around the world, born from designer Marina Courtbawi's own rich travel experiences. The brand name is inspired by a bird used as a heraldic symbol in Europe. For the modern woman who travels freely and globally, driven by her values and curiosity, we offer a sophisticated collection of elegant, stress-free pieces suitable for day and night.
Like the first dress you pack in your suitcase, each piece is lovingly crafted to complement your wardrobe and suit women of all ages, so that it will become a part of your precious travel memories.
The very purpose of vacation is to escape from everyday life and to free yourself, and we believe in simplicity when packing for a trip. We believe that lightening your luggage allows you to focus more on the many encounters and discoveries you will encounter along the way, allowing you to relax and focus on the many encounters and discoveries you will have along the way.
That's why Marlette's pieces are so light and simple. Handcrafted by Indian artisans known for their timeless craftsmanship, including smocking and embroidery, we combine our signature silhouettes to create a timeless wardrobe that inspires you to dream, dance, explore, live, and love.
Committed to using high-quality materials such as luxurious natural cotton, wool that can be worn for any occasion, and airy silk, she aims to create clothes that are comfortable and liberating in any weather, allowing the wearer to remain free, authentic, and feminine.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Marina Cortbawi
Designer Marina Cortbawi was born in Sydney, Australia. After graduating from university, she built her fashion career in Paris and London before moving to New York in 2010. While working with Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera, she gained a deep understanding of the fashion business from a global perspective. While traveling to Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and other regions for work, she came up with the idea of creating an all-cotton travel collection, and studied illustration and patternmaking at Central Saint Martins and the London School of Fashion. She launched Marlette in the summer of 2016. Her knitwear collection will be released in FW20.

This season's lookbook was photographed on the streets of London by Swedish photographer Anders Edström. The reason we asked Anders to take the photos this time is because we were struck by his documentary-like photography, which values reality and rawness.
