The Seven Chair, a classic mid-century design chair, will be released in advance as a collaboration item with mina perhonen's new fabric "dop." The collaboration will run from April 15th to May 10th at Living Decor on the 5th floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building. The stackable Seven Chair was designed by Arne Jacobsen, a pioneer of minimalist Scandinavian design. Furniture by Fritz Hansen, the company Jacobsen is associated with, has been featured in museums such as MoMA in New York, the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, and the National Museum of Art in Roppongi, Tokyo. Meanwhile, mina perhonen's "dop" fabric is made of smooth, double-sided moleskin. The fabric features a different color scheme on the front and back, revealing the color of the underside as the threads on the front wear away with use, creating a humorous design. Its delicately brushed, smooth texture makes it ideal for upholstery of stools and sofas, as well as cushions and bags. For this collaborative piece, the "Seven Chair in dop," dop is available in two patterns: full padding and front padding. The full padding model (priced at ¥165,000) features a patchwork of nine colors of dop, including the underside, and features specially designed buttons on the back of the seat shell. Meanwhile, the front padding models (priced at ¥120,000 to ¥150,000) feature embroidery of minä perhonen's signature "choucho" and "tambourine" designs, and feature wood shells that match the respective fabrics. A specially designed plaque is placed on the seat shell. The color palette consists of six colors selected by minä perhonen designer Akira Minagawa from the eight colors selected by Jacobsen for the Seven Chair.
