Bottega Veneta unveiled the new "Liberta" bag, crafted from smooth leather, as part of its bag collection unveiled at its Winter 24 show.

The Liberta is a crossbody bag crafted from premium smooth leather. The closure features a braided cable cord, a design previously seen in belts, and a brass clasp. This new bag eschews intrecciato for a more refined, smooth calf leather, highlighting the exceptional leather and its natural properties. Taking inspiration from archive bags from the 1970s, the bag is crafted from carefully selected tanneries, using innovative techniques to bring out the essence of the material.

The Liberta bag features calf leather on the underside of the flap and a suede lining on the inside of the body. Smooth calf leather has a subtle grain and an exceptionally smooth texture. This leather is processed using a method called "slow leather," which takes time to process the leather but aims to reduce the amount of wastewater, sodium sulfide and chromium waste, and the amount of tanning chemicals used. The new bag, "Liberta," will be available in two sizes: small and medium.
