Starbucks opens new "immersive" store for workers in Ginza, Tokyo!

Event Date:2020.07.30
Jul 30, 2020
Starbucks opened the Starbucks Coffee CIRCLES Ginza store on July 30th, based on the concept of a place where workers can "immerse themselves."

The second floor of the store was designed with business use in mind, featuring the solo working space "Think Lab," a unique space created by incorporating the distinctive services of each Starbucks.

The store is home to the "SMART LOUNGE™," which pursues comfort for business users with reservable booth seating and meeting spaces, and the ultimate solo working space "Think Lab," born from intensive research by eyewear brand JINS.

Concentrate on your own thoughts, connect with others to share ideas, and create.

By incorporating the "SMART LOUNGE™" with comfortable booth seating for online meetings, flexible table seating that can be combined, and the paid solo working space "Think Lab," the store offers a unique space where you can choose between "Co-Work" and "Solo-Work" with a cup of coffee, proposing new ways of working that suit changing work styles.

Quick takeout experience available on the first floor only. Mobile Order & Pay also available

The first floor, featuring Starbucks' authentic drinks and food, allows customers to order and pick up their items for a quick cafe experience. Cashless payments are accepted, and there is also a dedicated counter for picking up Starbucks' Mobile Order & Pay, which allows customers to pay in advance. This contactless, digital experience provides a smart and secure shopping experience.

The second floor is a place to immerse yourself. A space for concentration and creativity.

■Co-Work by Starbucks:Connect with people, share ideas, and create.

Point. 1: Reservable booth seating, perfect for video calls and other communications.

We offer four reservable semi-private booth seats, perfect for connecting with others via video calls, exchanging opinions, or organizing your thoughts before online meetings. Reservations can be made in 40-minute increments and can be secured in advance. These seats can be reserved through a service developed in collaboration with Vacant, Inc. (https://keep.vacan.com).

Point.2 Table seating suitable for meetings and business negotiations with multiple people

The table seating by the window can be combined to suit meetings, business negotiations, and discussions for 2 to 12 people. It's a relaxed space where you can freely discuss and refine your ideas.

■Solo-Work by Think Lab: "Think Lab" is the ultimate concentration experience that deepens your knowledge.

Point 1: A personal space for freedom and solitude.

A space large enough for concentration. A space where you don't make eye contact with anyone. A flow that prevents you from being distracted by the movements of others. A design that places emphasis on spending your own time.

Point.2: The five senses derived from science

The five senses necessary for solo work, such as plants, natural sounds, temperature and humidity, lighting, and original aromas, are scientifically based on evidence (*1). It provides an environment that facilitates concentration. (*1 2018 Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Digital Platform Construction Project Survey Report)

Point.3: An application to reserve alone time

What you need is alone time, when and where you want. The ThinkLab app allows you to reserve your own time, offering a new way of working.

The coworking space offers a variety of seating options, including counter seats with power outlets and large tables ideal for discussions. Furthermore, by introducing "Think Lab," a solo working space that provides the ultimate environment for concentration, the company will create a "place where you can immerse yourself" that cannot be found in the office or at home.

In order to "reserve concentration," Think Lab allows customers to reserve seats in 15-minute increments using the smartphone app "Think Lab" (iOS/Android), which handles reservation, unlocking, and payment all in one place.

We are looking forward to seeing this new Starbucks not only as a cafe, but also as a workspace.
