"VALLEY PARK STAND," a visitor center cafe that treats the streets of Shibuya as a fictional park, will open on August 1st

Jul 30, 2020
Welcome Co., Ltd., which operates the food boutique DEAN & DELUCA and lifestyle shop CIBONE, will be in charge of the overall production and operation of the fourth-floor entrance cafe of the lifestyle hotel sequence MIYASHITA PARK, which is set to open on August 1, 2020. Shibuya is a place where a wide variety of values and cultures intersect, just like the scramble crossing that is the city's symbol. Opening in a highly public location connecting sequence MIYASHITA PARK and Miyashita Park, VALLEY PARK STAND is a new entrance to Diversity that continues to be updated daily. In the morning and afternoon, it serves coffee and pastries, as well as pita sandwiches that are hugely popular in international cities around the world, as a cafe. In the evening, it transforms into a parkside bar serving long cocktails made with craft spirits. Treating the city of Shibuya as a fictional large park called VALLEY PARK, it also functions as a "visitor center" that connects tourists and the local community. It aims to be a place that brings the rich international flavor of Shibuya culture from the street up, from the bottom up.

FOOD MENU

Pita is a flatbread that originated in the Middle East. Due to its pocket-shaped hollow, it is also called pocket bread in English-speaking countries. This hearty pita is filled with plenty of fillings, so much so that the pockets overflow. (They are commonly known as "MIYAPITA" because they can be eaten at MIYASHITA PARK.) In the morning, there are four types of mini pita that can be eaten for just 500 yen, and at lunch and dinner there are three types available so that you can choose the one that best suits your mood that day.

DRINK MENU

The coffee beans used are an original blend that is fair trade and organic. The drinks on offer at Valley Park are perfect for a picnic, including a coffee menu that features a gorgeous aroma with a hint of nutty flavor, as well as hearty and impactful pint glass cocktails.

SPACE DESIGN

The hotel entrance floor, designed by SUPPOSE DESIGN OFFICE, connects seamlessly with Shibuya Ward's Miyashita Park. The hotel lobby lounge, cafe and bar are integrated into an open space that welcomes everyone. Some of the wooden counters and stools placed throughout the space are made from upcycled zelkova trees that once grew in Miyashita Park, and the plants at the back of the entrance floor, created by Kusamura, use distinctive plants to express the diversity of Shibuya, a city where borderless and genderless people gather. SOUND CoUTURE inc. was in charge of the sound design that complements the space. Taking into consideration the comfort of the space and the people spending time there, they created a 16-hour long sound design that changes "sound quality," "speed," and "tone" with the passage of time, from morning to afternoon to evening and night.
